5th Place: Air Oasis Mini UV  - Very Good Rating
MSRP $299.99. I like the rugged, simple design of this purifier. The quality is evident and the materials are good (very little plastic). It has decent cleaning ability for smells, gases, VOCs, and basic microorganisms. Not as effective on particle removal. Low maintenance and low maintenance costs are also pluses. I would consider this purifier for small spaces that are not too dusty or where the focus is on smells, gases, VOCs, and basic microorganisms. 5th best room air purifier under 300 sqft. 6th Place: Rabbit Air BioGS SPA-421A  - Good Rating
MSRP $549.95/$329.95 at time of review. The RabbitAir BioGS SPA-421A combines passive filtration with active negative ionization. This model has 4 stages. It has a slightly less powerful fan then the BioGS SPA-582A. RabbitAir uses all of its electronic expertise on this purifier with sensors and electronic control features. Some features may be useful and others just extra gadgets. The materials and quality are high just like many of Mitsubishi's products (a partner or Rabbit Air). The main cleaning focus for this purifier is particle removal. Expect less cleaning for odors and gases, VOCs, and microorganisms. This unit utilizes relatively long-life filters. MSRP $379.95. Blueair 250E & Blueair 250E w/ carbon option are relatively simple to use and maintain. The 201 and 250E are the same except the control interface on the 250E is digital. This adds some bells and whistles like timers, remote, automatic mode, and air quality sensors. The 250E will effectively clean up to 175 sqft (at 6 air changes per hour). 9th Place: Oreck XL Tower - Good Rating
MSRP $599.95. The Oreck XL Tower is generally easy to use, relatively cost effective to run and maintain, and a decent value. It is a tower purifier and would look good in a bedroom or office. It is rated to clean up to 150 sqft (at 6 air changes per hour). Ongoing costs are on the low side. You do need to clean this unit as opposed to just replacing filters. MSRP $289/$400 w/ optional VOC. I like the quality of this purifier. Simple to use, good basic looks. Solid engineering and quality materials used throughout. I like the powder-coated metal housing. Maintenance is minimal and because of the good filter design, filter life is long. Filter replacement costs are moderate. You do have to pay a little more to run this purifier, but the cleaning ability makes the cost justified. This is a good purifier for rooms up to 217 sqft.
